While the mechanisms underlying this pain remain unclear, recent research suggests a potential role for C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL-2), a chemokine involved in inflammatory processes. This literature review explores the association between CCL-2 levels and neuropathic pain in leprosy patients. We discuss the current understanding of CCL-2's role in nerve damage and inflammation, as well as its potential as a biomarker for predicting and monitoring neuropathic pain in leprosy. Understanding the role of CCL-2 in leprosy-associated neuropathic pain may lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies and improve the management of this chronic condition.
