  abstract = {<p><strong>Objectives:</strong> To determine the number of diagnosed cases of Hansen's disease or leprosy in the period between 1988 and February 2013 at the University Hospital Principe de Asturias (HUPA). To establish clinical characteristics, evolution and follow-up after diagnosis. <strong>Methods:</strong> We performed a retrospective descriptive study of diagnosed cases at the Hospital Universitario Principe de Asturias (HUPA) as Hansen's disease or leprosy between the years 1988 and 2013. The cutaneous distinctive lesions and the presence of acid fast bacilli compatible with <em>Mycobacterium leprae</em> in the biopsy of lesions was considered as patient case definition.</p>
