This is especially apparent in the unnecessarily and unacceptably poor access to timely and appropriate treatment for patients. To our knowledge, this is the first publication that addresses the major issues associated with poor access to drugs for leishmaniasis and that outlines a number of feasible and practical solutions.</p>
