RFA: Reaching the last mile: Addressing barriers to the implementation of the NTD interventions among Mobile and Migrant Populations (MMP)
The Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases is currently soliciting applications for operational research (OR) aimed at developing innovative solutions to address barriers to the implementation of the neglected tropical diseases (NTD) interventions among Mobile and Migrant Populations (MMP) and exploring strategies and interventions to effectively locate and reach these special populations. This research will be funded by the United States Agency for International Development's Ending Neglected Diseases through Operational Research Program through COR-NTD at The Task Force for Global Health.
The aim of this RFA is to enhance the evidence base, by identifying causes and testing solutions, that break through the barriers these MMP face in accessing NTD services. Operational research (OR) in this area will aid in the development of a model of NTD service delivery that may include alternatives to MDA to deliver preventive chemotherapy and/or integration across other public health campaigns. The current RFA focuses on the following four preventive chemotherapy NTDs: lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, trachoma and schistosomiasis. The integration of other NTDs in addition to those mentioned above may be considered.
