Rehabilitation, Empowerment And Development-Nepal (READ-Nepal) is non-governmental, non-profit and humanitarian organization with the sole motto of rendering advocacy services to leprosy affected other vulnerable groups in our society. It is registered with the Government of Nepal (Kathmandu District Administration Office Reg. No.677-061-062) and affiliated with social Welfare Council (SWC No. 18047). It is emerged with the initiative of leprosy stricken persons in order to serve in the field of health and sanitation of leprosy suffers and other marginal persons such as care and prevention and socio-economic empowerment) advocacy, counseling rights and awareness. Despite of lot of efforts from governmental, international and civil organizations for control and prevention of leprosy in Nepal, the present situation of leprosy in Nepal still remains growing. Leprosy suffers are facing social stigmatization, deformity and economic isolation. READ-Nepal is established to relieve the pains of such persons through various related activities (like providing awareness programmed through radio/television, free clinic services for needy people, wound care ward, skilled development and training for vulnerable groups.
