Atualizações e abordagens clínicas da hanseniase no âmbito dermatológico atual

A hanseníase é uma infecção granulomatosa crônica, que afeta principalmente a pele e os nervos periféricos, sendo transmitida pelas vias aéreas superiores de pessoa a pessoa através do convívio de suscetíveis com doentes bacilíferos sem tratamento. A afecção pode ser mais bem entendida se for considerada associação de duas doenças. A primeira é uma infecção crônica causada pelo Mycobacterium leprae, organismo intracelular obrigatório que induz extraordinária resposta imune nos indivíduos acometidos. A segunda é neuropatia periférica iniciada pela infecção e acompanhada por eventos imunológicos. Dessa forma, este estudo configura-se como uma revisão integrativa realizada por meio do levantamento bibliográfico nos diretórios: Google Scholare Scientific Eletronic LibraryOn-line (SciELO), com uso dos descritores DeCs (Descritores em Saúde) e o Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), nos idiomas português e inglês, com os seguintes termos: “Hanseniase”(leprosy), “infecção” (infection), “tratamento” (treatment). Desta busca, foram encontrados 150 artigos, posteriormente submetidos aos critérios de seleção. A seleção resultou em 7 artigos que foram submetidos à análise seletiva, exploratória e interpretativa no contexto do presente estudo. A partir da revisão bibliográfica dos estudos analisados, conclui-se que, de fato, a hanseniase é complexa e precisa ser mais estudada.

Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous infection, which mainly affects the skin and peripheral nerves, being transmitted through the upper airways from person to person through the coexistence of susceptible people with untreated bacilliferous patients. The condition can be better understood if an association of two diseases is considered. The firstis a chronic infection caused by Mycobacterium leprae, an obligate intracellular organism that induces an extraordinary immune response in affected individuals. The second is peripheral neuropathy initiated by infection and accompanied by immunological events. Thus, this study is configured as an integrative review carried out through a bibliographic survey in the directories: Google Scholar and Scientific Electronic LibraryOn-line (SciELO), using the descriptors DeCs (Health Descriptors) and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) , in Portuguese and English, with the following terms: “Leprosy”, “infection”, “treatment”. From this search, 150 articles were found, subsequently submitted to the selection criteria. The selection resulted in 7 articles that were subjected to selective, exploratory and interpretative analysis in the context of the present study. From the bibliographical review of the studies analyzed, it is concluded that, in fact, leprosy is complex and needs to be further studied.
