Building the resilience of leprosy-affected people: lessons from Bangladesh
Abstract
People affected by leprosy are more vulnerable in a pandemic situation. This report documented the outcome of a project intended to build resilience in those affected by leprosy by improving their health, hygiene and nutritional status, to reduce the direct impact of the pandemic. The project also tried to increase income generation activities, in order to help participants manage the longer-term impact of the pandemic. The combination of food and capital support to overcome the economic shock of the pandemic, along with links to local resources worked well in this project.
