IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGIES FOR THE PREVENTION OF LEPROSY TRANSMISSION
Abstract
Leprosy is an infectious disease of direct transmission, with high limiting power, which if
treated early has a low morbid impact on the patient's life. The strategy used to prevent its
transmission was health education, due to its power to modify the vision and thinking of the
population in general. The proposal aims to train all professionals in the Basic Health Unit and carry out specific actions: in schools through the Health at School Program,
encompassing all shifts; in groups of elderly, hypertensive, diabetic, obese, pregnant
women, in view of the presence of a large concentration of people; Visits by community
health agents and community agents of endemic diseases are characterized by another highly
effective proposal, due to periodic visits to families in the municipality. The evaluation of
the effectiveness of the actions takes place through registration via report and through
photographic registration, at the end of the planned actions, the coverage analysis of all the
proposed points must be carried out, as well as, analysis of registration, in the minutes book,
of individuals who sought the Basic Health Unit, with the purpose of evaluating suspicious
spots for leprosy.
